How to set up Microsoft Outlook (or Outlook Express) for a new e-mail account

This guide will show you how to properly set up Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express with a new e-mail account to receive e-mail from your server.

If you already have an account set up and need to configure it so that it automatically deletes old messages from your server, keeping your server space from filling up, click here for the existing account setup guide.

1. Open Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express.

2. From the toolbar, click on Tools and select E-mail Accounts...

3. On the window that pops up, select Add a new e-mail account and click on Next.

4. On the next screen, select POP3 and then click Next.

5. Fill in Your Name, E-mail Address, your User Name, and Password. Click on the Remember password checkbox if you would like Outlook to remember your password everytime you log on.

Type in pop."your domain name".com (without the quotes) for the Incoming mail server (POP3), and smtp."your domain name".com (without the quotes) for the Outgoing mail server (SMTP).

When finished click on More Settings...

6. On the window that pops up, click on the Advanced tab.

7. Change the Outgoing Server (SMTP) to 26.

To keep you mailbox from getting full, click on the checkboxes that say Leave a copy of messages on the server and Remove from server after and choose a number of days to keep messages on your server.

Click OK when finished.

8. You will return to this window, click on Finish and you're set!
